As Quakers, we seek to live in the spirit which inspires us in our meetings. We believe that if we are fully open to that spirit, it can be transformative. It can change us and the world in which we live for the better
We share a way of life, rather than a set of beliefs. We seek to experience the divine (something that we may understand in a wide variety of ways) within ourselves and in our relationships with others and the world around us. These experiences are where Quakers find meaning and purpose. We commonly see ourselves as searching for truth, rather than having arrived.
We have no creeds. We have found that the search for truth can lead us to new understanding as well as to new expressions of values we continue to hold dear. Our core values are often referred to as ‘testimonies’. Today we focus particularly on simplicity, peace, truth, equality, and environmental sustainability and how they relate to each other.
Our Quaker faith leads to action. Throughout our personal lives, we face the challenge to live with greater love and integrity. Being part of a supportive community helps us to do this.
